Local GOP Endorses Julie Berreth Candidacy for Pend Oreille Hospital District

Recently endorsed by the Bonner County Republican Central Committee as a candidate for Pend Oreille Hospital District Board of Trustees, Julie Berreth believes there are many opportunities to facilitate a greater depth and breadth of public healthcare that fits the needs of all Bonner County residents.

Berreth, a lifelong North Idaho resident with 30 years in Bonner County, understands firsthand the people, the culture and the distinctive challenges of this area. Distributing funds to a robust combination of traditional, alternative and complementary healthcare options is something Berreth wants to explore if elected.

“Clearly, something needs to change. POHD’s recent audit found all three Bonner General Health clinics currently under service agreement are operating at a total loss of $1.9 million. POHD’s total revenue from all sources, including taxes, is only about $1.5 million,” Berreth said. “This begs the question, is it appropriate for the hospital district to completely fund a single private entity, Bonner General Health, when the lifestyle here in Bonner County has evolved into one of sustainable wellness? Now more than ever, people are looking for less-invasive, more natural and toxin-free methods of healing. The $100.04 billion global market-size value of complementary and alternative medicine in 2021 simply cannot be dismissed.

While Berreth has no formal healthcare experience, she has helped small businesses successfully identify, define and execute their visions in her 30-year career as a strategic marketing, branding and multi-media creative professional. Berreth is also an advocate for transparency and accountability in government. She is committed to ensuring that Bonner County residents are the driving force behind the distribution of their tax dollars, rather than a majority POHD trustee vote.

“I believe fostering an integrative approach to healthcare – conventional along with complementary and alternative medicine – is the right vision to strategically meet the wellness needs of the future for the people of Bonner County, along with the fiduciary responsibility they entrust to the Pend Oreille Hospital District Board of Trustees,” Berreth said.
