Is the Commissioner Gaslighting on the
Solid Waste Bond?
According to Psychology today, victims of gaslighting are deliberately and systematically fed false information that leads them to question what they know to be true. In other words, gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse, and very common in the political arena where there is an imbalance of power.
To say, “I thought Republicans stood for lower fees and taxes” is a poor example of leadership, but a great example of gaslighting. Another example is: “By opposing the Bond, the BCRCC is supporting dramatically higher fees.”
Opposing him and his higher taxes makes you bad??
If this Commissioner has lost the support of the local Republicans, maybe he should ask himself “Why” instead of wasting his time trying to get everyone else to hate them on his behalf.
The next point was to say that they had been raising the Solid Waste issue since 2019, and had three public workshops with poor attendance. (He did say they held only two meetings in another post, so not sure which is true.) This should speak directly to how much effort was made to inform the public. Who have they been raising it with, and just WHY hasn’t any of the public known about it?
If he is concerned about getting the Republicans support, then why didn’t he mention it at their monthly meetings? Oh yeah, he quit attending when they stopped genuflecting.
Unless he has jumped onboard the Democrat bandwagon, this is not a partisan issue, as the Commissioner is making it out to be.
This is an issue for all county residents. There is not enough information available to give a vote to authorize higher taxes. There are way too many questions that have yet to be answered.
Vote NO on the Solid Waste Bond on May 18th.
