It seems that this whole affair is making citizens scared to ever question the government on land management. Follow the money. If there was not value to the minerals under the ground, or the value of water, which is the next gold. This whole process would have not even been on anyone’s radar screen. In Darrington, WA we have 60% of the land owned by the feds. Could not figure out why the FS started closing roads to high mtn lakes and many of these hikes day hikes. Found a mineral report done in the 80’s a year ago.1.9 billion tones of rare earth minerals and the roads that were dug up were specific mineral locations. Now we have lost 95% of our recreational day hikes in the Cascades, the town has been in an economic slump since logging was shut down in 1994
