On October 2, 2017, following a discussion about a recent filing, Ryan Payne expressed
his disagreement with decisions made by his lawyers and expressed his desire to have a canvass
pursuant to Faretta v. California, 422 U.S. 806 (1975). Counsel asks that this matter be
addressed forthwith at or before the calendar call hearing set for tomorrow.

So does this mean he is asking for a different attorney? I know Cliven requested a different attorney and the judge denied him.
He was asking to be allowed to self-represent (ProSe). As it turns out, today in court he withdrew his motion. The judge also ruled that he could refile it at a later time if decides he still wants to.
