Western Governors recommend improvements to BLM’s land use, NEPA processes
Western Governors recently identified gubernatorial priorities in the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) “Report in Response to Secretarial Memorandum on Improving Planning and NEPA Processes and Secretarial Order 3355.”
The governors outlined their concerns in a letter sent to Department of the Interior (DOI) Secretary Ryan Zinke on January 23, 2018.
In part, the Governors encouraged “early, meaningful, substantive, and ongoing state-federal consultation in land use planning and NEPA processes,” as well as reducing duplication of environmental review analyses, ensuring consistency in land use planning and ongoing coordination between state and federal agencies.
The letter reiterated relevant WGA policy resolutions, noted previous outreach, and included recommendations for how DOI and BLM can improve state-federal consultation as they consider changes to BLM’s land use planning and National Environmental Policy Act processes.
Good Job thank you
